Flower bulbs: a famous product

What do you think of when you think of the Netherlands? The first three things will have to be windmills, clogs and flower bulbs! Oddly enough, two of them are disappearing. Many windmills have vanished over the years. And how many people still wear clogs these days? Of the three, only flower bulbs have been with us for centuries and are still a part of the Netherlands today. You can see them everywhere, all year through. In the winter, you see them inside on the window sill. For the rest of the year, they bloom outside in gardens and parks where they are planted in the ground or in large planters.

And then there are the flower bulb fields: thousands and thousands of flower bulbs in bloom as far as the eye can see. Many people earn their living from the sale of flower bulbs. They are sold all over the world. It’s no exaggeration to say that Dutch flower bulbs are a famous product!
